Samuel H. Thie, 81, died Thursday afternoon, August 1, in Burlington Memorial hospital.

Mr. Thie was an active farmer until the time of his death. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and a trustee of Yellow Spring township and Des Moines County Insurance Company.

He was the son of Charles and Dorothea Bauer Thie and was born January 28, 1893, in Des Moines county.

He married Ruby Young in Mediapolis on December 1, 1915.

Surviving: The wife; two sons, Samuel H. Thie, Jr., Burlington, and Hugo Thie, Mediapolis; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Fry Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday; Reverend Edward Davis; Kossuth cemetery. A memorial to the Crippled Children's Fund has been established at the chapel.
