Mt. Union (IA) -- Mrs. Alma C. Smith, 76, Mt. Union, died Wednesday night, January 30, at New London.

She was born February 4, 1897, north of Burlington, the daughter of Thomas and Mattie Walker Van Osdol. She married Carl W. Smith north of Burlington February 26, 1918. She was a member of United Methodist church of Mt. Union, United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school at the church for several years.

Surviving: The husband; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Bailey, Fairbanks, Alaska, Mrs. Marcille McAllister, Mt. Union, and Mrs. Lola Wick, Downers Grove, Illinois; seven grandchildren; .and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Wran and John Van Osdol, both of Burlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Carden, Danville, and Mrs. Gladys Linza, Long Beach, California.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, United Methodist church, Mt. Union, Reverend Ben Hang; Middletown cemetery. Elliott chapel of New London is in charge of arrangements.
