Charles W. Piper, 74, Mediapolis, died Thursday in St. Francis hospital here.

Born near Mediapolis March 22, 1881, he was the son ot Henry T. and Rachel Winters Piper.

He was a life resident ot the Mediapolis community, and was of the Methodist faith.

On March 26, 1919, he was married to Etta Bandy.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Lloyd, US Navy, and Walter, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Smith, Newton, and Mrs. Wanda John, Burlington; five grandchildren; a brother, Henry, Mount Union, and two sisters, Mrs. Etta Mason, Mount Pleasant, and Ida Piper, Mediapolis.

Two sons, six brothers and a sister are dead.

The funeral has been tentatively set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church in Mediapolis, pending word from his son in service.

Burial will be in Kossuth cemetery. The body is at Fry's funeral home in Mediapolis.
