Matthew Daniel Smith died at his home in West Burlington, Iowa Wednesday, November 5, 2014. He was born June 7, 1967 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Keith Scott and Diane Hendrix Smith. Matthew married Jill Wilt in Los Vegas, Nevada; they were later divorced. He was an Industrial Plastics Engineer. Matthew loved music and enjoyed playing the drums, piano and guitar. He taught music and gave lessons at the Musician Pro Shop. He enjoyed watching the LA Dodgers and Rams football. Matthew liked golfing on 18 hole courses and on X -Box. He was a big kid and enjoyed the time he had. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Survivors include his mother Diane Smith of West Burlington, Iowa and his father Scott Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Matthew Smith of Burlington and Dalton Schwarz living in Illinois; two daughters, Evangeline Smith of Burlington and Jacqueline Smith of Ankeny, Iowa; two brothers, Keith Smith of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Paul Sorenson of Cary, Illinois; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dean Benton will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service cremation will be entrusted to the loving care of Prugh Funeral Service. Interment will be at a later date. A memorial has been established for Matthew’s Children’s Education.
