Ms. Shirley Mae Drafahl, 64, of Burlington died at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born September 27, 1949 in Burlington she was the daughter of William "Skeet" Paul and Martha Harriet Rice Mellinger.
Ms. Drafahl was a 1968 Burlington High School graduate. She worked in production at Lance Private Brands for 28 years.
She was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed travelling all over the United States, including Hawaii, NASCAR racing and was a Cardinal fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a love for animals, especially her bichon frise dog.
Survivors include two sisters, Sharon Kay Flowers of Burlington and Carol Ann (James) Kuntzelman of Roscoe, Illinois; one nephew, Jammie Flowers of Burlington; one niece, Dawn Callison of Cedar Rapids and three great nieces, Isabella Callison, Jasmine Flowers and Myia Flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral service for Ms. Drafahl will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
