Diane Marie Beck, 49, of Burlington, died peacefully with friends and family at her side at 10:15 PM Thursday, June 5, 2014, at her home.

Born April 20, 1965, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Larry and Mary Langer Walker. She married Steve Gawron. They later divorced. On October 30, 2005 she married Craig Beck on the river front in Burlington.

Diane was a manager for several different retail stores in the Chicago Suburbs. When she relocated back to Burlington, she worked for the City of Burlington as a dispatcher for the city and county. She was very honored to serve the City of Burlington as well as the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office.

She was a 1983 graduate of Burlington High School and attended The University of Iowa.

She made friends with everyone she met. She loved people, cooking, taking pictures, being in the sun (her handle was Sunnbunnie), gardening, and cruising in her convertible with her golden retriever Frankie. She also loved to watch Friends. Her love and care for people was her greatest joy.

Survivors include her husband, Craig; four sons, Jacob (fiancée Eva) Gawron of Plainfield, IL, Ian (fiancée Susan) Gawron of Burlington, Nathan (Alex) Beck of Fort Madison, IA, and Justin Beck of Fort Worth, TX; two daughters, Sophia (boyfriend, Logan) Gawron of Burlington, and Danielle Beck of McKinney, TX; two grandchildren, Ayden and Aaron; her mother, Mary Blake of Burlington; two brothers, Darrin (Beate) Walker of Burlington, and Chad Larson of Iowa City, IA; one sister, Debra Yansky of San Antonio, TX; her grandmother, Gladys Langer, and numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, her stepfather, John Blake and her grandparents.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 PM with Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the visitation.

The memorial service for Mrs. Beck will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice House, Ronald McDonald House, and Children's Cancer.
