Edward Joseph Bessine, 65, of Burlington, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003 at his residence.

Born May 15, 1938, in Burlington, he was the son of Frederick W. and Anna Koehler Bessine. On October 11, 1958, he married Sharon Kaye Fleming in Burlington.

Mr. Bessine worked at Hawkeye Motors and for Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Murray.

He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Cascade Boating Association and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, his mother; one son, Tony Bessine of West Burlington; one daughter, Tammy Heap of Stronghurst, Illinois; six grandchildren; four brothers, Bob Bessine, Dick Bessine, Fred Bessine and Jim Bessine, all of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be Monday at Prugh's Chapel, Burlington, where the family will receive friends between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Bessine will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
