Alice V. Beckman, 90, of Burlington, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Burlington Care Center.

Born February 11, 1913, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Stephen Joseph and Bertha Jenny Gronefeld Beckman.

Miss Beckman was a telephone operator and a plant operations clerk at Burlington Telephone Company. She was a 1930 graduate of St. Paul's Catholic School. She was past president of Burlington Business and Professional Women and the Tricippian Club of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews; Susan Beckman Farrell of Ames, Iowa, F. Stephen Beckman of Arlington, Texas, David Delaney Beckman of Burlington, Iowa, Sally Ann Beckman of Iowa City, Iowa, Joan Cambron Saunders of Sterling, Illinois, and Michael J. Cambron of Batesville, Indiana; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

There will be a wake service in Prugh's Chapel Friday evening at 7 p.m., with the family receiving friends until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Miss Beckman will be at 10 a.m.Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church,with Father John Hyland officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for St. Vincent de Paul Society and Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church.
