Dorothy Mary Sourwine, 94, of Burlington, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2003 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Born May 23, 1908 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur F. and Victoria M.Johnson Wolf. On January 14, 1939, she married Melvin Lee Sourwine in Burlington. He died May 20, 1987.

Mrs. Sourwine was a homemaker. She was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed and loved her family, traveling, gardening, and playing bingo. She was president of Mercy Hospital League, Catholic Women's League and Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include one daughter, Victoria Sourwine of Burlington; two sons, Ron Sourwine and Duane Sourwine, both of Burlington; two grandsons, Jeff Sourwine of Ventura, California, and Brian Sourwine of Sammamish, Washington; two granddaughters, Sandy Shipley and Tammy Lerud both of Burlington; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father on September 23, 1941, and her mother on March 30, 1978.

There will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel with the family receiving friends until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Sourwine will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center, Klein Center and SS John and Paul Catholic Church.
