Carl Bernard Casady Sr., 75, of Marshalltown Veterans Home, died at 4:18 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Born July 29, 1927, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Beryl B. and Florence Thieme Casady. In 1951 he married Celeste M. Weiler. They later divorced. On July a5, 1969, he married Mary Frances Hays in Burlington. She died December 18, 1988.

Mr Casady was a truck driver for construction in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Middletown. He was a heavy duty equipment operator in Fairbanks in the 1950s.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Fairbanks Teamsters Local 183, Burlington Teamsters Local 218 and the local Machinist Union 1010. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Car Bernard Casady Jr. and Rodney Beryl Casady, both of Burlington; four grandchildren; two brothers, Harold T. Casady and Bruce E. Casady, both of Burlington; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides both of his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother.

Open visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel. There will be no family visitation.

The graveside committal service for Mr. Casady will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Burlington, with Pastor Mark Prevo officiating.
