Ionia Jean Hutchison Buescher, 80, of Burlington, died at 1:08 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.

Born March 31, 1922, she was the daughter of John Luther and Ethel Walters Hutchison. On December 28, 1942, she married Henry C. "Bud" Buescher in Burlington. He died November 8, 1984.

Mrs. Buescher was a homemaker. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Southeastern Community College basketball fan. She enjoyed reading and being with her cats.

She was a member of Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Waldorf of Burlington; one sister-in-law, Ruth Jean Caprez Hutchison of Paradise, Kansas; three nieces and one nephew.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation will begin after 1 p.m.Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The funeral for Mrs. Buescher will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Salvation Army.
