Mabel May Broeg Henning, 94, of Burlington, died at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at Great River Medical Center, Klein Center in Burlington.
Born March 2, 1908, in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of Henry Clark and Cora Ann Peck Winegarden. She married Edward Broeg on October 2, 1928, in Burlington. He died in 1966. She later married Earl Henning on November 5, 1979 in Burlington. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Henning worked as a sales clerk in women's clothing at several stores in downtown Burlington.
She was a 75-year member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher for 54 years, and a member of United Methodist Women, Mary Martha Circle, Golden Linds, Young at Heart and Gold Star Mother VFW.
Survivors include one son, John Broeg of Victoria, Texas; one step-son Edward Broeg of Burlington; five step-daughters, Eileen Meck of Burlington, Mary Henning, Margaret Stroupe and Beverly Eickhoff, all of Davenport, and Erline Henning of Clinton; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters and five brothers.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Prugh's Chapel.
The funeral for Mrs. Henning will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel, with the Rev. Richard Purcell officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
