Geneva Pauline Korf Vorwerk, 88, of Burlington, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2003, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington.

Born March 31, 1914, in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Edward F. and Bertha Mae Thomas Korf. She married Anthony L. Vorwerk on August 28, 1935, in Burlington. He died July 30, 1990

Mrs. Vorwerk was a 1932 graduate of Mediapolis High School. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, needlework, puzzles, playing canasta, spending time at the cabin on Huron Chute, canning and making jelly. She also enjoyed being a commercial fisherman's helper and was a skilled fish cleaner.

Survivors include three sons, James, Paul and Edmund Vorwerk, all of Burlington; four daughters, Patricia McGraw of West Burlington, Mary Jo Lowe and Janice Newberry, both of Burlington, and Nancy Steingreaber of Newton; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son and four sisters.

Following a rosary at 5 p.m., and a Christian wake service at 6 p.m., the family will receive friends until 9 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel.

The funeral for Mrws. Vorwerk will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center, Hospice Care and the American Heart Association.
