Cecil E. Green, 83, of 1501 North Eighth Street, Burlington, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 1995, at Otter Island on the Mississippi River.

Born August 25, 1912, in Yarmouth, he was the son of George Allen and Emma Van Dermark Green. He married Celestine J. Vorwerk on December 2, 1934, in Dodgeville. She died December 26, 1992.

Mr. Green was an insurance agent at Cecil E. Green Agency. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Burlington Boat Storage and third-degree Knights of Columbus. He was an avid bowler.

Survivors include four sons, John T. Green of Omaha, Nebraska, Dan C. Green of Peoria, Illinois, Bob Green and James A. Green, both of Burlington; two daughters, Gloria Ann Poisel of Omaha, Nebraska, and Carolyn Sue Herzberger of Lombard, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Loren O. Green of Burlington; three sisters, Mildred Hollingsworth and Gladys Parrott, both of Burlington, and Elsie Housman of Sperry.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and a great-granddaughter. Following a 7 p.m. wake service Sunday in Prugh's Chapel, the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Green will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Reverend Carl Leveling officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Burlington Area Catholic Schools.
