Lawrence M. Diewold, 71, of 3105 West Avenue, died at 3:20 a.m. Friday, July 17, at Burlington Medical Center.

He was born February 23, 1910, at Burlington, to John and Elizabeth Berger Diewold. He married Lala Helen Hartman, October 2, 1934, at Burlington.

He was the former owner of D & R Amusement Company and the retired operator of the Maple Leaf Tavern. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Fourth Degree of Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Elks and Moose Lodges and the Cascade Boating and Hunting and Fishing Associations.

Surviving: his wife; a brother, Arthur Diewold, Burlington; and a sister, Mrs. John (Mary) Linnemann, Burlington.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, at St. John's Catholic Church, the Reverend Vitolds Valainis; Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Prugh Chapel. A memorial has been established to the church and to the Cancer Society.
