Sue Tansey, 51, of Burlington, died at 3:49 PM, Friday, July 31, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Born April 13, 1958, in Tylertown, MS, she was the daughter of J. T. and Darthy Mae Campbell Street. On August 15, 2003, she married Rick D. Tansey in Burlington. Sue was an assistant manager at Wal-Mart Supercenter in West Burlington. She was a graduate of Salem High School in Walthall County, MS. She was also a graduate of Southwest Mississippi Community College. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a great cook, enjoyed sewing and was an avid golfer. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Rick; one son, Benjamin (Karen) Pete of Laurel, MS; two daughters, Brandy (Alan) White of Savannah, GA, and Carey Pete of Burlington; two step-sons, Matt (Stacie) Tansey and Brandon (Emily Schwartz) Tansey both of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Haley, Morgan, Anna due in October, Kyleigh, Caleb, Derrick, Ryan and Emma; two brothers, Michael (Betty) Street of Jayess, MS, and Tommy (Gail) Street of Jamestown, NC; one sister, Barbara Sandifer of Jayess, MS, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Tansey will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2727 Cliff Rd. with Bishop Jonathan Snow officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
