Vada B. Butts, 91, of Burlington died at 12:52 a.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born September 20, 1921 in Creston, she was the daughter of George and Sylvia Hocumb Utterback. On December 14, 1940 she married Russell "Bud" Butts in Kahoka, MO. They later divorced.
Mrs. Butts worked in production at I.A.A.P. for 20 years and in supply for Burlington Medical Center for 18 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of First United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Butts enjoyed caring for her pets - cats and dogs. She also enjoyed bird and squirrel watching and horses. She loved her grandchildren and also enjoyed drinking beer and going out on the river. She was a people person, always greeting people with a smile and a hug. Her laughter was infectious.
Survivors include three sons, Albert L. "Butch" Butts of Palmyra, NE, Joe Butts of West Burlington and Steve Butts of Burlington; one daughter, Georgia Brobston of West Burlington; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Butts, John Russell Butts, JoAnn Butts, Susan Butts, Dennis Dean Brobston, Adam Wade Brobston, Tommy Butts, Michael Butts, Scott Butts, Jody Butts and Julie Butts; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister, Frank, Louis and Nola.
