Clayton Russell Carper, 89, of R.R. 4, Timberline Estates, West Burlington, died at 620 p.m., Friday, March 29, 1996, at Argyle Lake Nursing Center in Colchester, Ill.
Born June 19, 1906, in St. Mary's, Ill., he was the son of Warren and Pearl Ellis Carper. He married Ina Meyers. She preceded him in death. He then married Esther Thoden in 1952. She died Jan. 18, 1960. He later married Florence Edgington in 1962. She died Feb. 24, 1981.
Mr. Carper worked at CB&Q Railroad and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Augusta, Ill. He helped build the church in 1934.
Survivors include one son, Phillip Carper of Casa Grande, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Bartlett of Augusta, Ill.
Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
The funeral for Mr. Carper will be 11 a.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Lindemulder of Augusta, Ill., officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
