Patricia Hummer

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” A. Hummer, 83, of Burlington died at 8:03 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Great River Medical Center Emergency Treatment Center.

Born October 2, 1930, in Augusta, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Edna Neely Sandberg. She married Bernard P. Hummer and they later divorced.

Mrs. Hummer was a graduate of Denmark Academy. She was the bartender at the Green Lantern for ten to fifteen years, retiring in 1998. She also was a clerk at Aldi’s and Giant’s.

Mrs. Hummer was a member of St. John’s Church of Flint River Township and A.A.R.P., and enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards and meeting friends on Monday evenings to sign the book. She loved her life, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald (Teri) Hummer, Daniel Hummer and Craig Hummer, all of Burlington; two daughters, Susan Hummer and Kelly Hummer, both of Burlington; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Hummer; grandson, Shawn Hummer; sister, Marcelyn Lingenfelter; and her aunt, Edith.

Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.

The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Hummer will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2nd, in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Dean Moberg officiating. Memorials have been established for St. John’s Church of Flint River Township and Des Moines County Humane Society.
