Robert "Bob" Charles Rowley, 83, of Burlington died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, at his home.
The body has been cremated.
The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel Funeral Home in Burlington, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Veterans Honor Guard of VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League will conduct military rites. A private inurnment in Aspen Grove Cemetery will be at a later date.
Visitation will begin at 2 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, and the family will received friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
Mr. Rowley was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Fairfield, the son of George Truman Sr. and Anna Margaret Bartz Rowley. He married Evelun Linquist Aug. 16, 1941 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. Rowley was a graduate of Fairfield High School. He worked as an electrician at Pohren Electric, retiring in 1988.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944-1946 during World War II. He attained the rank of corporal.
He was a member of American Legion and I.B.E.W. Local 13. He did wood working, yard work and collected coins. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Christina Goodwin of Danville; five sons, Robert B. Rowley, Thomas Rowley and Kevin Rowley, all of Burlington, Craig Rowley of Dumfries, Va.,
and Jon Rowley of Salem; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Emola Grauman of Sheboygan, Wis., and LuJean Wilson of Bellevue, Wash.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
