JOHN MEHAFFY

John Talmage Mehaffy, 87 of Kalona, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013.

Born Nov. 7, 1926, Garland, he married Eleanor Burge on June 2, 1948.

Mr. Mehaffy farmed and operated an auto parts business in Morning Sun. In 1972, he became affiliated with the Living Word through the ministry of John Robert Stevens.

In 1995, he and his wife retired and moved to Kalona.

Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Johnston of North Hills, Calif., and Mary Hughes of Kalona; one son, Mark Mehaffy of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one son.

The memorial service for Mr. Mehaffy will be at 2 P.m. Saturday at Shiloh in Kalona, and a time of fellowship will be after the service.
