Mediapolis News, Thursday, 7 Oct. 1993, pg. 2 -- Raymond Fred "Doc" Johnson, 90, of 1115 Middle Street, Mediapolis, died Tuesday, 5 Oct. 1993 at Burlington Medical Center.
The son of Limeric Carl & Amanda Olive (Butler) Johnson, he was born Jan. 21, 1903 at Mediapolis. On June 5, 1929, he married Nena Lucille Sexton at Cedar Rapids; she died July 26, 1980.
Doc farmed for several years, then became a Standard Oil tank wagon agent. After retirement, he gave loving care to his wife until her death in 1980. He continued his love for horses by attending local shows and sales. He wa a graduate of the Mediapolis High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mediapolis.
Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Virginia and Charles Mueller of Mediapolis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Ellen, Dennis and Dan Alexander of Hallsville, MO; Richard, Jean, Nathan, Steven and Lyndsay Mueller of Macomb, MI; David, Joleen, and Madeline Mueller of Wauconda, IL; Brian Kim and Dana Mueller of Colorado Springs, CO; two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Verner, and two sisters, Vinnie and Sadie.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993 at 10:30 a.m. from Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Interment will be in the Kossuth Cemetery. Friends may call as they desire Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Mediapolis Public Library.
