Mary Ruth Mahalic, 89, of Burlington, died at 12:12 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Aug. 30, 1911, in Windsor, Mo., she was the daughter of Luther and Mattie Cross Thompson. Mrs. Mahalic worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1942 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1975. She was of the Christian faith. She loved looking at pictures, reading letters and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Schnedler of Burlington; two sons, Richard Mahalic of Burlington and William Mahalic of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday.
The funeral for Mrs. Mahalic will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with Pastor Sharon Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
