Helen Louise Rothlauf, 80, of Burlington died at 11:25 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Born December 19, 1927, in Mount Pleasant she was the daughter of Roy Edgar and Genevieve Dilsaver Ellis. On June 5, 1949, she married William Edward Rothlauf in Burlington. He died December 6, 2007.

Mrs. Rothlauf worked at Iowa Southern Utilities Company, was an office cashier at Montgomery Ward Company and for 13 years a bookkeeper at First Christian Church. She retired May 1992. Her early schooling was in Mount Pleasant and New Longon and she graduated from Burlington High School in 1947. She was an active member of First Christian Church and had served on several committees. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working on genealogy, family photos and biographies.

Survivors include three sons, David (Regenia) Rothlauf, and Mike (Pam) Rothlauf both of West Burlington, and Ken (Angie) Rothlauf of Fort Madison; one daughter, Nancy (Allan) Tracy of Waxahachie, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Monk, Jasen Tracy, Angela Tracy, Jamie Dagan Jared Rothlauf, Emily Roberts, and Cole Rothlauf; three stepgrandchildren, Robbie Luers, Jeremy Vance, and Jordan Rodeffer; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Rothlauf, Austin Roberts, Hayden Roberts, Kirsten Roberts, Jimmy Monk, and Jeremy Monk; and three step great-grandchildren, Addison Luers, Ava Luers, and Kaleb Vance.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Glen Ellis; one sister, Frances Evans; and one stepgrandson, Ryan McPeak.

Friends may call at Prugh's Chapel on Wednesday after 12 noon with the family being present to greet friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Rothlauf will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Tom Smith and Pastor Dean Benton officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
