Lawrence Edward Rollins
Born Jan. 15, 1920, in Rome, he was the son of William Pleasant and Mary Matilda Peterson Rollins. On Jan. 23, 1942, he married Ferne Gorman. On July 20, 1957, he married Gladys M. "Ann" Fladt in Oquawka, Ill. She died Nov. 8, 2001.
Mr. Rollins worked for Burlington Urban Service for 50 years.
He loved riding and caring for horses and enjoyed all of the people he met as a bus driver.
Survivors include two daughters, Penny Brueck of Des Moines and Vicki Baldosier of Fairfield; three stepdaughters, Beverly Sammons of Burlington, Barbara Hudson of Piedmont, Mo., and Margaret Cechota of Dallas City, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Robinson of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Prugh Funeral Service.
The funeral for Mr. Rollins will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, with Pastor Kirk Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
