Homer E. Pogemiller, 80, of Burlington, died at 2:35 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2000, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born Aug. 21, 1919, in Mediapolis, he was the son of Charles F. and Myrtle Timmerman Pogemiller. On May 4, 1940, he married Mary V. Wisener in Kahoka, Mo.
Mr. Pogemiller was a semi-truck driver for Sturm Trucking for 26 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a staff sergeant. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Burlington, where he was a past trustee, Teamsters Local No. 218, and a 45-year member of FOE Aerie No. 150 of Burlington.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patricia Wolters of Cadillac, Mich., Rae Nell Spencer of Decatur, Ill., and Candace Jordan of Noblesville, Ind.; one son, Dana Pogemiller of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, one nephew and one niece.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Pogemiller will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162 will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
