Elmer Leroy "Mitch" Mitchell, 58, of Oquawka, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Genesis East in Davenport.
Born Sept. 7, 1942, in Oskaloosa, he was the son of Carl Gulick and Mildred Williams. On Aug. 17, 1961, he married Dorothy Sabins in Burlington.
Mr. Mitchell worked for Pak-A-Way and recycled metals.
He was of the Protestant faith. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1967 to 1969.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Elmer Mitchell and Gary Mitchell, both of Burlington, and David Mitchell of Lomax, Ill.; two daughters, Kathy Mitchell of Burlington and Christine Mace of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; and three sisters, Ella Zuel and Carolann Gulick, both of Olathe, Kan., and Eva Bell of Gladbrook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one brother.
Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today at Prugh's Chapel.
The body of Mr. Mitchell will be cremated following visitation.
A memorial has been established.
