Josephine Hilda Scott

Josephine Hilda Scott, 90, of OSF Saint Francis Care Center, Burlington, formerly of Robinson Heights of Burlington and Kingston, died at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 1998, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born July 23, 1908, in Sperry, she was the daughter of Joseph and Meda Nelson Panther. On February 5, 1930, she married Edmund Charles Scott in Muscatine. He died December 21, 1972.

Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Sperry High School and was a homemaker. She lived in the Kingston area most of her life.

She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church of West Burlington, its Altar and Rosary Society, and was a volunteer at Birthright of Burlington. She loved to play cards and dance.

Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Oetken of Sperry; one son, Leo Scott of Sperry; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Norman Panther of Garden City, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandson, one great-granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Thursday in Lunning Chapel with a Rosary recited at 6:45 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 8 p.m. and, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Scott will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Reverends Thomas Reilman and Gerald Stouvenel officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kingston.

A memorial has been established for Birthright of Burlington.
