Mt. Pleasant, la, March 22.—(Correspondence.)—Services over the remains of Miss Anna M. Evans were held at her late home on West Madison street at 3 o'clock this afternoon, and a large crowd of friends were present. The services were in charge of the Rev. M. Tuttle, presiding elder of the Burlington district, who was assisted by the local Methodist pastor. Rev. W. P. Stoddard, and Dr. C. L. Stafford, president of the college. Many handsome offerings of flowers were sent, both by friends and different organizations, among the latter being the Epworth League and Sunday school at Mediapolis and this city, the Methodist church choir, the P. E. O. sisterhood, and the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Music was furnished by a quartet, consisting of Messrs. W. E. Keeler and Dr. A. L. Punton and Mrs. H. E. Snider and Miss Daisy Woods. The services were short and appropriate, remarks being made by Revs. Stoddard and Tuttle on the life and character of the decease while Dr. Stafford led in prayer. The funeral party will leave here in the morning at 8:05 o'clock for Mediapolis with the remains. The pall-bearers here will be J. B. Eyestone, J. H. Dimmitt, J. B. Walker. Edgar R. Sater, Charles Cochrane and the writer. The party will arrive at Mediapolis about 9:40 o'clock, and from the time of the arrival at the interment at the Welch chapel, five miles west of there, the services will be in charge of Rev. M. J. Pusey, pastor of the Methodist church at Mediapolis and the Epworth League. The funeral sermon will be preached in the chapel at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning. As a mark of respect and sympathy, the Epworth League social, which was to have been held the evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Doe, was postponed till Thursday evening of this week.
