The Burlington Hawk-Eye, page 11, November 21, 1960; Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa:

Mrs. Anna W. Brenneke, 89, 2006 Baumberger, died at the home of her daughter in Portland, Oregon, Friday (November 18, 1960) at 8:45 p.m., following an extended illness.

She was born in Des Moines County, October 1, 1871, the daughter of Fred and Wilhelmina Bloom Broeker, and was married to Herman A. Brenneke in Des Moines county March 1, 1892. She was a member of the Oak Street Baptist church, and Ladies Aid of the church.

Surviving are four sons, Harve, Clifford, and Earl Brenneke, all of Millbrae, California, and Ralph Brenneke of Burlington; two daughters, Carrie Brenneke of Portland, Oregon, with whom she had made her home; and Mrs. Ruth Dawson of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters Mrs. (sic: Miss) Louise Broeker of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Mrs. Hanna Redfern of Donnellson, Mrs. Emma Hillen of Monmouth, Illinois, and Elsie Rhodes of DeBarry, Florida; and number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, four children, one sister, and six brothers are dead.

Services will be in Oak Street Baptist church Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. The body will arrive in Burlington Tuesday evening and be taken from Prugh's chapel to the church Wednesday at 10 a.m.
