Elmer Lee Andries, 87, Mediapolis, died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at his residence. The son of Marion Carl and Mildred Estella York Andries, he was born December 10, 1914, in Kingston. He attended the Huron School. He was a farmer and worked as a grain elevator operator at Meeker’s Landing for 16 years. He was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming, his animals, hunting and fishing, and helping people of all ages.

He is survived by a sister, Opal Hahn of Salem, Oregon; several nieces, nephews, and their families; and a special friend, Henry Bowman of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Louise and Doris, four brothers, Art, Max, Martin and Gene.

Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Beth Briggs and H. Dick Reynolds officiating. Music will be provided by John Zippe and Shirley McCord. Pallbearers will be Art and Andy Fisher, Jack and Ron Steele, John, Gary, and Larry Andries. Honorary bearers will be Ed. Hahn, Henry Bowman and Wes Gerst. Interment will be in the Dolbee Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Kingston United Methodist Church.
