Ronald Foster McIlhenny, 76, of Burlington died at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Great River Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington.
He was born on August 27, 1932 in Tulsa, OK to Collin McIlhenny. He married Phyllis G. Pfadenhauer on August 12, 1962 in Burlington, IA.
Ronald was a Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Great Sitken and the U.S.S. Antaries in the Mediterranean Sea. He worked at Champion Spark Plug. Ronald enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles, feedng the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. He also enjoyed watching the History channel on tv.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Scott McIlhenny of Keokuk, John McIlhenny of Des Moines, and Brian McIlhenny of Macomb, IL; four grandchildren and two step-sisters from Texas, Joan Marfin and Mary Lou Fegley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Russell Bollinger, and one sister.
Graveside committal services for Ronald Foster McIlhenny will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, IA. Envoy Barbara Michael and Brian McIlhenny will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Prugh's Chapel.
Memorials have been established for the Great River Medical Center Hospice House and Special Needs Foundation.
