John Wayne Crowner Jr., 58, of West Burlington died at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Great River Medical Center.
Born December 6, 1952 in Burlington, he was the son of John Wayne Sr. and Anna Mae Marshall Crowner. On September 3, 1971 he married Lanny Hadden in Lomax, Illinois.
Mr. Crowner was a veteran serving both the Marines and in the Army. He was a machinist for Burlington Northern Railroad.
Mr. Crowner was affiliated with St. Paul United Church of Christ. He loved woodworking, making Christmas decorations and the St. Louis Cardinals. He worked at the concession stand for West Burlington Athletic Boosters and volunteered for Mrs. Kavalliero's 4th grade class at West Burlington and also for the 3rd grade.
Survivors include his wife, Lanny Crowner of West Burlington; three sons, John (Jennifer) Crowner III and Jeremy (Ashley) Crowner both of Burlington and Steven Crowner of West Burlington; three granddaughters, Jenna, Allison and Sierra; two sisters and one brother.
His parents, two brothers and two sisters, one in infancy, preceded him in death.
