Florence H. Hartman, 79, Elm View Care Center, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the care center after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 5, 1901, at Gibson County, Ind., to John H. and Mathilda Whitten Hockman. She was married to John Dewey Hartman; he died March 24, 1980.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hartman had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving: Two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Garrison, Des Moines, and Mrs. Betty Schulz, Burlington; a son, John D.,Jr., Gulfport, Ill.; a brother, Virgil Hockman, Washington state; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Prugh chapel, Rev. Mr. Bruce Pullen; Aspen Grove Cemetery.
