Charles H. "Swede" Hartman, 72, of 2008 S. Main, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Burlington Medical Center.

He was born April 14, 1909 at Burlington to Fred and Edith Anderson Hartman. He married Evelyn Wire at Burlington.

He was a retired Benner Tea Co. warehouseman and was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Teamsters union.

Surviving: his wife, two sons, Wayne J., Burlington, and Bruce E., Roseville, Minn.; a brother, Robert, Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Sidney(Dorothy)Floyd, Mrs. Albert(Ruth)Vaughn, and Mrs. Lester(Marian)Brower, all of Burlington, and Mrs. Willard(Mable)Aldinger, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; six grandchildren.

Funeral: 10:30a.m. Thursday, Prugh's Chapel; the Rev. Arthur H. Krebs, Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
