Howard Panther, 62, West Branch, died Friday, August 6, at Veterans' hospital, Iowa City.

He was born June 25, 1914, at Kingston, the son of Leonard and Bertha Vorwerk Panther. A longtime resident of Burlington, he moved to West Branch several years ago. He was an employee of University hospitals, Iowa City.

Surviving: Four brothers, William, Houston, Texas, Lewis, Rockford, Illinois, Ervin, Rock Island, Illinois, and Paul, Burlington; and sisters, Charlotte Crabbe, Davenport and Ruth Estil, Jessup.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Bernadette church, West Branch. Burial at St. Mary cemetery, Dodgeville, 2 p.m. Monday. Rosary: 7:30 Sunday, Barker funeral home, West Branch.
