Earnest Timmerman

Earnest A. Timmerman, 86, of Burlington, died at 8:18 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Oct. 4, 1915, in rural Burlington, he was the son of Charles and Eva Anderson Timmerman. He married Virginia M. Burkett Dec. 14, 1935, in Burlington.

Mr. Timmerman served in the Civil Conservation Service for 18 months. He retired from Modern Welding. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Joyce Colton of Texas, and Diane Miller and Melody Peterson, both of Burlington; two sons, Jack Timmerman of Wisconsin and Earnest Timmerman of Burlington; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Cluney of rural Danville and Wilma Stafford of rural Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

As per his request his body has been cremated.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Timmerman will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at 604 North St., Burlington.

The Hass Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
