Robert J. Butts, 77, of Burlington died August 19, 2008 at his home. Born January 26, 1931 in Burlington, he was the son of Albert and Edna (Russell) Butts. On March 2, 1957, he married Christa H. Freisleben in Burlington.
Mr. Butts was a union painter, retiring in 1991. He served in the Army. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Eagles Club, Moose Lodge, VFW 10102 and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed the river, boating and fishing. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Deborah Causey of Hermann, Mo., and Jennie Shacklett of Donnelson; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one twin brother Paul Butts of Burlington; one sister Marge Bash of West Burlington.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents, one sister and four brothers. No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated. The memorial service for Mr. Butts will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ.
