Victoria Mosena

Victoria Christina Mosena, 58, formerly of Wever, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Denville, N.J. She had been in failing health for the past year and a half.

Born Sept. 8, 1942, in Burlington, she was the daughter of James and Billie Gahn. Her adoptive parents were Joseph and Gertrude Steffensmeier. She first married Robert D. King. He preceded her in death. She later married Robert G. Mosena.

Mrs. Mosena lived in the Wever area most of her life. She was a school teacher at Denmark Elementary School for 24 years and also worked as a resident aide at Hope Haven in Burlington. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in Augusta. She was reunited with the Gahn family in 1979. She loved her family and her pets.

Survivors include one son, Joe Mosena of Wever; one daughter, Kristine Mosena of Denville, N.J.; two brothers, Jim Gahn of Burlington and John Gahn of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Dolores Richter of Grand Junction, Colo., Mary Ann Dunegan of Burlington and Jeannette Mehaffy of Cedar Rapids; one granddaughter; three aunts; one uncle; and 93 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her adoptive parents, an infant son and five brothers.

Her body has been cremated.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass for Mrs. Mosena will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Robert McAleer officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in St. Paul.

A memorial has been established. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home at 1919 Avenue F, Fort Madison, IA 52627.
