Michael Herlein
Michael Walter Herlein, 49, of Burlington, died at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Great River Medical Center ED in West Burlington.

Born May 26, 1958, in Monroe, Wis., he was the son of Frank and Kathy Fuchs Herlein. On July 6, 1992, he married Wendy Johnson in Las Vegas.

Mr. Herlein worked as head of maintenance and safety at Doran and Ward Printing Company in Burlington. He was head maintenance mechanic for Coors Tek Inc. in Golden, Colo., for 10 years. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and boating on the river.

Survivors include his wife; his father of Evergreen, Colo.; one brother, Mark Herlein of Evergreen; one sister, Melody Hannigan of Norwood, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington where family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Herlein will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
