Karsch

Mrs. Josephine Karsch passed away Monday morning at 5 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Woellhaff, 637 South Twelfth, after an illness of four months.

Josephine Beck was born November 19, 1946, in Germany, and came to this country May 25, 1867, after a voyage of sixty days. She was married August 1, 1867 to Dominick Messmer, who passed away October 12, 1881. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Elizabeth Woellhaf, Mrs. Minnie Koch, John Messmer and Andrew Messmer. She was a loving mother to three daughters of her husband by a former marriage: Mrs. Kate Schumann(deceased), Mrs. Emma Tappert, Norfolk, Neb., and Mrs. Mary Schumann of Manistee, Mich. On October 11, 1892, she was married to August Karsch, who passed away six years ago. "Grandma" Karsch, was well known, having been engaged in the grocery business during the past forty years at the corner of Ninth and Aetna streets. She will be mourned especially by the children of the neighborhood to all of whom she was "Grandma".

She is also survived by a brother, Mathias Boeck of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and several brothers and sisters in Germany, also ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Karsch was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic church and the Altar Society of that congregation.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock from the home, 637 South Twelfth street, and at 9 o'clock from St. John's Catholic church. Interment will be in St. John's cemetery. Friends are invited to attend.

Funeral notice

The funeral of Mrs. Josephine Karsch will be held Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.J. Woellhaf, 637 South Twelfth street; from St. John's Catholic church at 9 o'clock. Interment Sacred Heart cemetery. Friends invited.
