Leo Brown

Leo LeRoy Brown, 79, formerly of Mediapolis, died Thursday morning, May 19, 2005, at Iowa City Rehab & Care Center.

Born April 9, 1926, in Kingston, he was the son of John W. and Ruby Viola Young Brown. On April 14, 1947, he married Darlene A. Brockway in Burlington.

Mr. Brown was a salesman for B.L. Robinson Co. in Burlington.

He was a World War II Army veteran, where he was stationed in Japan. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis, the American Legion at Mediapolis and served on the Mediapolis City Council for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada.

Survivors include his wife of Iowa City; one daughter, Linda Brown of Iowa City; two grandchildren; four great–granddaughters; one brother, Willard Brown of Kingston; and three sisters, Violet Harryman of Douds, Dorothy Pierson of Kingston and Hazel Harl of Waukegan, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, three brothers and one sister.

There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated.

A private family graveside service for Mr. Brown with military rites conducted by the Mediapolis American Legion will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating

A memorial has been established for Mediapolis American Legion.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis is in charge of arrangements.
