Gladys Springsteen
Gladys M. Springsteen, 90, of Morning Sun, died Tuesday, Dec.18, 2007, at Morning Sun Care Center.

Born Oct. 5, 1917, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Percy W. and Etta L. Chronister Wells. On March 1, 1942, she married Kenneth "Carp" Springsteen in Memphis, Mo. He died March 13, 1991.

Mrs. Springsteen graduated from Burlington High School in 1936. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was a Cub Scout leader for 12 years. She assisted with the family business, Springsteen Tiling. She was an excellent roller skater and met her future husband while roller skating. She enjoyed camping, crocheting and always attended Old Threshers.

Survivors include one daughter, Coraliene Clausen of Bettendorf; two sons, Percy Springsteen of Hope Mills, N.C., and Frank Springsteen of Morning Sun; six grandchildren; and two-great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

There will be no visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Springsteen will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Memorials have been established for Morning Sun Community Ambulance Service, Morning Sun Community Center and the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun.
