Jean Lucille Dean, 79, of Danville died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center in Burlington.

Born Nov. 24, 1928, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Laura Thomes Grinstead. After her father died, her mother married Will Sams. On Oct. 30, 1948, she married Grant Gordon Dean in Burlington. He died Sept. 9, 1994.

Mrs. Dean was a homemaker and co-owned and operated Dean's Conoco in Danville with her husband. She was a 1948 graduate of Danville High School. She was a member of Danville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Dean and Patrick Dean, both of Danville; one daughter, Brenda Gearhart of Burlington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Delora Grinstead and Lois Osborne, both of Burlington, Doris Jones of Boonesville, Ark., JoAnn Bjorge of Osage Beach, Mo., and Mary Alice Deck of Marshall, Mo.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Dean will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Patton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery west of Danville.

Memorials have been established for Southeast Iowa Dialysis Unit and Danville United Methodist Church.
