WM. S. KANINE IS DEAD HERE
William S. Kanine, 69, resident of Des Moines County for 20 years, died Monday afternoon in Burlington hospital after an illness of seven months. His home was a quarter mile south of Prairie Grove.
Kanine, born Nov. 22, 1872, spent most of his life in and near Burlington. He was united in marriage to Vina Fry at Keokuk, Ia., and she preceded him in death in 1912. He married Ollena Heckenberg, June 2, 1927.
Surviving are his widow; four daughters from his first marriage, Mrs. Grace Duckwitz and Mrs. Loretta Krause of Chicago, Ill., Mrs Esther Gragg and Mrs. Margaret Howarth of Moline, Ill.; six grandchildren; one brother, Charles Kanine, Portland, Ore. A daughter preceded him in death.
Kanine farmed all his life. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Burnett – Wallen Funeral home, Rev. Edwin W. Frohardt to officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Grove cemetery.
