Donald Taeger Sr.
Donald "Boots" Taeger Sr., 91, of Prairie Grove, died at 2:49 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born April 28, 1910, in Burlington, he was the son of Ernest and Lydia Oetken Taeger. He married Helen Beckman on Sept. 12, 1934.
Mr. Taeger was a graduate of Burlington High School and a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Prairie Grove and read his Bible every night.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald E. Taeger of Prairie Grove and Kenny Taeger of Danville; two daughters, Lois Beckman of Prairie Grove and Dorothy Lane of Mediapolis; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Taeger will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Patti Webb officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for his church.
