Donald Marlette Sr.
Donald S. Marlette Sr., 72, of Burlington, died at 1 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at his home.
Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Oakville, he was the son of Sidney and Celia Munson Marlette. He first married Gladys Robertson. On May 25, 1974, he married Sandy Plath in Carthage, Ill.
Mr. Marlette worked at a service station and at Midwest Biscuit as a production supervisor.
He was a graduate of Oakville High School. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He was a Cub Scout leader and a Navy veteran with the rank of seaman.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Dennis Marlette of Springfield, Mo., David Marlette of Wapello, Duane Marlette of Anchorage, Alaska, and Donald Marlette Jr. of St. Cloud, Minn.; three daughters, Teresa Taylor of Greenville, S.C., Rhonda Marlette of Burlington and Sierra Marlette at home; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Larry Marlette of West Blockton, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in Concordia Lutheran Church, 2901 Cliff Road. There will be a short service of the word at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Marlette will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church, with Pastor Chris Roepke officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural West Burlington.
A memorial has been established.
