Norvell Currie
Norvell Currie, 66, of Burlington, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003, at his home.
Born Oct. 20, 1936, in Twist, Ark., he was the son of Floyd and Audrey May Loyed Currie. On Nov. 11, 1969, he married Betty Lou Schilb in Burlington.
Mr. Currie worked at St. Francis Care Center for 17 years.
He was a member of Faith Temple Church. He enjoyed fishing, yard sales and reading his Bible.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Norvell Currie Jr. and Ladall Currie, both of Iowa City, Ondray Currie of West Burlington, Calvin Ray Chapman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dennis Lee Chapman of Fenton, Mo., and Murfery Lee Schilb of Rockwell City; one daughter, Florence Ann Currie of Milwaukee; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Laura Belle Canaday of Detroit.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Currie will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Albert Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery in West Burlington.
A memorial has been established.
