Ruth Frances Dean, 103, of Burlington died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at the Burlington Care Center.

Born May 7, 1904, in Des Moines, she was the daughter of Phillip J. and Florence Brown Cox. On Oct. 14, 1922, she married Willard Oren Miller in Redfield. He died Jan. 10, 1955. On May 16, 1959, she married Orval Dean in Peoria, Ill. He died June 8, 1968.

Mrs. Dean worked as a clerk at Younker's in Burlington. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Senior Citizens, RSVP and AARP. She enjoyed knitting lap robes for care center residents and infant caps for newborns.

Survivors include one daughter, Verla F. Hart of Des Moines; two sons, Jerrold W. Miller of Burlington and Galen Miller of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and nieces.

Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

The memorial service for Mrs. Dean will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Deb Miller officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in the Wiscotta Cemetery in Dallas County at a later date.

A memorial has been established for First Presbyterian Church.
