Jean M. Leidig Gerber, 73, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at her home.

Born Jan. 3, 1934, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Roy and Gladys Leidig. On June 21, 1953, she married Darrell "Rusty" Gerber.

Mrs. Gerber taught elementary education in Burlington. She also taught private piano, violin and organ lessons, and accompanied various groups throughout the community. After moving to York, Pa., she was involved in early childhood education at Shiloh Lutheran Church and continued to teach private music lessons.

She was the organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. She was a member of the York Area Transplant Support Group, having received a liver transplant 20 years ago at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Fetterly and Kathy Gerber, both of Dover, Pa.; one son, Gary Gerber of Dover; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Edward Leidig of Hot Springs, Ark., and Ron Leidig of Richardson, Texas.

Visitation will be before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London.

The funeral for Mrs. Gerber will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.

A memorial has been established for the Lowell street lights.
